Call for applications
Missions
The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) is looking for postdoctoral fellows and has officially opened its call for applications for various scientific research positions. The new positions are a part of a special programme aimed at reinforcing the scientific personnel involved in the realization of JINR’s top-priority projects in the fields of theoretical and experimental physics of elementary particles, relativistic heavy-ion physics, nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, and radiobiology.
The Programme provides an opportunity for talented early-stage researchers, who wish for science and engineering to be noticed, to get involved in the forefront international projects of the scientific and technical advancements at JINR in Dubna. Skills
The successful applicant is expected to have experience and a solid background in nuclear or particle physics, or in a closely related field (including a recently obtained PhD degree less than 5 years ago, age under 40, have not had more than 3 temporary positions)*.
The successful applicant should be able to work well in an international environment, such as large multinational collaborations. The applicant is also expected to take on responsibilities for experiments and analytical work and should be able to work independently as needed.
* Winners of last year's JINR Postdoctoral Programme and JINR Fellowship Programme, who were previously employed at JINR, are not eligible to participate in the contest again.
Activities and Work Context
The Programme is highly beneficial since it makes most of the research and training opportunities created by JINR projects. It includes a wide range of topics such as neutrino and nuclear physics, biophysics, materials research (including nanomaterials), high-performance computing, accelerator technology, superconducting magnets, theory.
Remuneration
The original appointment will be for one year, with the possibility to renew it for another two years max. (36 month in total).
2300 USD per month (paid in Russian rubles at the planned exchange rate (forecasted year-average, adopted in the JINR budget for the current year, which is fixed on the date of conclusion of the contract and valid throughout its entire term). In 2025, the exchange rate is 96.5 Russian rubles per 1 USD. The exchange rate for 2026 is preliminary planned to be 92.2 Russian rubles per 1 USD).*
Income tax of 13% is applied. The employer shall pay no pension insurance.
*The average per capita income in the Moscow region is 110 thousand rubles
Terms and Social Benefits
- 12-months contract, renewable for another maximum of 24 months, depending on your performance in the multicultural scientific environment of JINR;
- annual paid leave of 42 calendar days with an additional one-time payment of 50% of your monthly salary after one year of work;
- air fare (except for family members) at the beginning and the end of the employment period in case the terms of the contract are fulfilled;
- accommodation (50%, without cost of utilities and furniture rental);
- free local health insurance for you and your family members;
- relocation assistance (reimbursement of the cost of excess baggage and transfer from/to airport at the beginning and end of the contract for all family members);
- free Russian courses and subsidies for the use of JINR sports infrastructure, such as the Olympic swimming pool, stadium, gym, etc. (without family members). You will also have access to a variety of cultural activities.
