Description

This Mini-workshop shall bring together the creators and practitioners of simulation codes for Heavy-Ion Collisions in the energy domain of the NICA experiments BM@N and MPD as well as those experts who can make essential inputs to these programmes. The nature of theoretical investigations in the field of relativistic heavy ion physics in the NICA energy range requires resolution of a number of fundamental problems as well as phenomenological studies directly connected with experiments and it has to be based on a coherent implementation of a wide range of methods of quantum chromodynamics, relativistic nuclear physics, kinetic theory, hydrodynamics and critical phenomena in finite short lived statistical systems.

There are these main goals of the meeting:
  • Present the alternative strategies to simulate HIC in the transition region between baryon stopping and transparency (THESEUS, JAM, UrQMD-Sandwich, PHSD, ...) .
  • Discuss the strategies to include the possibility of a phase transition in dense baryonic matter in these simulations: first order or crossover.
  • Discuss the question of benchmarks for testing the codes against experimental data.
  • Possibilities to make codes open source.
The main Physics issues to be discussed concern the effects and possible signatures of a phase transition of first order, accompanied with the formation of a mixed phase, like:
  • Antiflow of protons
  • Particle ratios (in particular K+/pi+)
  • Baryon stopping signal
  • Flow of clusters
  • Strong electromagnetic fields in relativistic HIC
  • Femtoscopic signals
