summarizing the progress and ToDos:
First of all, reminder#2: PLEASE upload your slides to the agenda
=> gas gain studies
- Alexey: comparison of gas gain vs HV for ATLAS and 10 mm straws:
microscopic vs RK with proper mean and "microscopic shape" gain (with attachment) for no Penning and Penning recommended by Rob (0.54?)
- Alexey + Assel: gas gain distributions for ATLAS at 1500 V and 10mm 1750 V
--> the outputs of microscopic gain calculations are available in the text format. To be
1) treated to find mean and error on mean
2) plotted as hostograms with a reasonable scale (here mean of the histrograms to be compared with the calculated mean)
3) the mean values with errors to be plotted in the famous "data and garfield gas gain vs HV"
We agreed to do it for ALTAS and 10mm straws without Penning and with Penning of 0.54.
Team: Sonja+Assel with Sergey's supervision and control and Alexey's help for Garfield++ (data, scripts etc).
Time: Monday afternoon to be discussed in the chat
--> as soon as the microscopic results are ready and make sense, the corresponding mean of the gas gain distributions can be used for RK method with the correct gain shape.
1) Assel and Sonja independently generate two samples each: one for nominal ATLAS (1500 V) and one for nominal 10 mm straws (1750 V). If everything is ok (two values obtained by Sonja are the same as those values obtained by Assel)
2) they use RK method to plot the gain vs HV for ATLAS and 10mm straw with and without Penning (to compare with the previous graphs done with the microscopic method). Assel takes one type of the straw, Sonja - another one.
- Alexey: some text describing our progress, problems and questions to Garfield authors
--> postponed till we get the results
- Sergey: Garfield studies for gain distributions for given mean obtained with attachment vs without attachment
--> Sergey needs results from Sonja and Assel to continue and hopes to get the input on Monday and discuss them on Tuesday
=> Vitaly, Alexey, Sergey: Garfield vs Gafrield++ for reliable signal shape simulation
--> Before the experimental measurements are available, Sergey considers the nominal gas gain for 10mm straw at 1750 V of 4.5e4 and does simulation in GARFIELD with and without attachment. The case "with attachment" can also be done vs HV to be compared with Sonja/Assel studies. Here the question - which gas gain distribution will be used?
Additional remark - in the future (for example, for Sonja's mass production for SPDroot) one can think of using a Garfield transfer function instead of LTSPice simulation. A question to Vitaly: if the VMM response can be reproduced with a unique transfer function?
=> Dosbol+Vitaly: uniform muon distribution studies for the testbeam case
--> ongoing, we need a reminder at the next meeting on what we wanted to do and where we are (Dosbol)
=> Sonja+Assel: training with Garfield++
--> ongoing
