Description
The Focusing Aerogel RICH (FARICH) detectors based on multilayer focusing aerogel Cherenkov radiators have been developed since 2004. The capability of this method to provide excellent particle separation in momentum range below 10 GeV/c was demonstrated several times with help of beam tests and simulations. The recent results and achievements of this technique R&D are presented. The option of FARICH detector is considered as a PID system for the endcap regions of the SPD experiment. Conceptual design of the FARICH system for the SPD experiment is described. The potential advantages of the system and challenges of the further R&D are discussed as well.
