SCIENCE BRINGS NATIONS TOGETHER
First Computing Workshop for interested students at MPD experiment

America/Mexico_City
Ivonne Maldonado (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research)
Description

Objective

To train young students to develop the required skills to participate at the INTEREST program and do analysis for MPD experiment.

Overview

In order to carry out data analysis in the MPD, it is necessary to know how to use the framework and create Monte Carlo events that mimic real data collisions in the experiment. For that we require: the generation of the underlying physics events, the particle transport and calculation of the energy deposits in the detector, digitization of the energy deposits and finally the reconstruction of the event. Tasks that are performed by MpdRoot framework. The workshop will provide an overview of the MpdRoot framework for young students and will promote the experience of students that participate at START summer program.

Topics for the Workshop

  •  Installation of MPDRoot
  •  Basic root usage: Create, Read Trees,
  •  plot Simulation of particle transport and reconstruction of events → runMC.C, runReco.C macros
  • Macros to read DST files
