Description
In the framework of the PIK nuclear reactor reconstruction project, a PIK Data Centre was commissioned in 2017. While the main purpose of the Centre is storage and processing of PIK experiments data, its capacity is also used by other scientific groups at PNPI and outside for solving problems in different areas of science such as computational biology and condensed matter physics. PIK Data Centre is an integral part of computing facilities of NRC "Kurchatov Institute".
The PIK Computing Centre has a heterogeneous structure and consists of several types of computing nodes suitable for a wide range of tasks and two independent data storage systems, all of which are interconnected with a fast InfiniBand network. The engineering infrastructure provides redundant main power and two independent UPS installations for computing equipment and for cooling system.
In this talk we will highlight the results and challenges of one year and a half of successful operation.
