Description
One of the goals of the WLCG Operations Coordination activities is to help simplify what the majority of the WLCG sites, i.e. the smaller ones, need to accomplish to be able to contribute resources in a useful manner, i.e. with large benefits compared to efforts invested. This contribution describes different areas of activities which aim to allow sites to be run with minimal oversight and operational effort from people at the sites themselves as well as beyond. These areas include several scenarios for deployment and management of the site resources, multiple paradigms for providing resources in general, both for compute and data management, as well as R&D activities involving data mining and machine learning algorithms for a better understanding of the monitoring and logging information, up to trend analysis which would allow further automation of operational tasks.
