Description
In the framework of the PIK nuclear reactor reconstruction project, a new PIK Computing Centre was commissioned this fall, the main task of which will be storage and processing of PIK experiments data. The Centre's capacity will also be used by other scientific groups at PNPI for solving problems in different areas of science such as computational biology and condensed matter physics. It will also become an integral part of computing capacities of NRC "Kurchatov Institute".
The PIK Computing Centre has a heterogeneous structure and consists of several types of computing nodes suitable for a wide range of tasks and two independent data storage systems, all of which are interconnected with a fast InfiniBand network. The engineering infrastructure provides redundant main power and two independent UPS installations for computing equipment and for cooling system.
