Description
The application of semantic integration methods meets challenges,
which arise during collaboration between IT-specialists and domain
experts at the model building stage. These challenges can
affect correct formalization of the domain as well as the outcome
of the integration in distributed information systems as a whole.
The creation of a collaborative platform for semantic integration
which provides the (re)use of semantic assets (SA) is suggested to
overcome the lack of semantic interoperability. The analysis of the
limitations existing in standard SA management leads the authors
to propose the collaborative approach, based on an extended lifecycle
of semantic assets. The authors consider the implementation
of the platform based on the Asset Description Metadata schema
extension to be a valid option.
