LABORATORY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

The 8th International Conference "Distributed Computing and Grid-technologies in Science and Education" (GRID 2018)

10 – 14 September, 2018
Dubna, Russia

The International Conference "Distributed Computing and Grid-technologies in Science and Education" will be held at the Laboratory of Information Technologies (LIT) of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) on 10 - 14 September 2018.

The forthcoming conference will be the eighth one organized by the JINR Laboratory of Information Technologies starting from 2004. Since then, distributed computing and Grid-technologies have gone far beyond the academic interest. At present, those technologies allow federated computing centers around the world to provide resources to highly distributed user communities. Modern technologies require the development of high-performance and high-throughput computing. The coverage of those activities encompasses not only various areas of natural sciences but also business and industry. Over the last years, the implemented distributed computing model enabled the solution of a wide class of tasks, involving the processing of an enormous amount of data.

The previous GRID conference (http://grid2016.jinr.ru) was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of JINR and the 50th anniversary of LCTA (now LIT). The conference was attended by more than 250 scientists from research centres in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Moldova, Mongolia, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, etc. Russia was represented by participants from more than 30 universities and scientific research centres. The conference was organized in ten sections which discussed the issues related to the development of grid technologies, heterogeneous computing, volunteer computing, cloud computing, big data analytics. Also, during the conference, a school for young scientists, postgraduates and students was organized, where tutorials were conducted on heterogeneous and cloud computing.
The Conference Proceedings are available online at http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-1787 (CEUR Workshop Proceedings (CEUR-WS.org), Vol-1787, ISSN: 1613-0073).

The main purpose of the Conference is to discuss the current Grid operation and the future role of the distributed and cloud computing, HPC, BigData etc. in Russia and worldwide. The Conference provides a platform for discussing fresh results and for establishing contacts for closer cooperation in the future.

The GRID2018 organizing committee has opened a Call for Participation. Abstracts can now be submitted online through the event’s Indico pages

Registration can be done online through the Grid2018 Indico pages.

For online abstract submission you should register in the JINR Indico system (if you have Indico login and password, registered earlier on other conference, you have to use it, don’t create a new Indico registration). Please remember your login and password for sending new abstracts or editing your profile or abstract. The system allows modifications up to the moment, when the abstract status is changed to Accepted.

You can also send the abstract by e-mail to grid2018@jinr.ru
